It’s been a long time coming. Quite honestly I never thought we’d get here. Since he was about eight months old Bruiser has been going to the dentist, twice yearly in fact for his checkups. Despite all the visits, the dentist has never seen his teeth…. until now!
There was no promises or bribery, there was no ‘do you want to sit in the chair Bruiser?’ It was all his own doing, all his own choice and he did it all by himself.
I don’t think there is much else I can say, the picture does all the talking…

Thank you for your lovely comment. Our dentist isn’t specifically SN friendly but she has been seeing Bruiser since he was a baby. She has always been aware of his needs and always lets him take the lead and never forces anything on him. The last few visits she has literally just let him play in the seat and never asked to see his teeth.

Thank you everyone for your lovely comments. Bruiser being Bruiser, could mean this was a one off. I hope not! Social stories and role play with big bro pretend playing dentists was the story of our success, I think. 🙂
